Before Chep became better known in the music edit business, we collaborated together mixing and editing a "Solar Records" medley (Early 80's). I was a DJ at Stars Roller Rink in the Bronx and also Feedback Director at SOS Record Pool (Rob Fernandez was owner) right off Castle Hill. It took us several sessions, first I mixed the entire thing at Stars - about 20 Solar artists starting around 110 RPM, finishing it around 130 RPM. Then came Chep's magic with a single razor and a small cutting board right at SOS. I still have the original reel to reel master and see all the cuts he made. It was a tragic loss. But he still lives in my memory every time I play that mix (it eventually was pressed by Disconect DJ service back in the day). I have it on my Serato playlist and it sounds just as fresh as the first day we did it. God rest your soul my friend - Fernando

Greetings to all. Today for the first time by FBL (Facebook Live) I will talk about this person José "Chep" Nuñez. They will know how to put it on my wall every year on this same date. I think the djs, producers, remixers and what they know about editing on tape or on their computer. They should know a little about the story. RIP #josechepnunez #editing #28thaniversario #respect #reeltoreel At 3pm puerto rico. 2pm EST time.

If you have it posted, so people can enjoy it like myself or maybe you already posted it a while ago. I’m 50 years old. I was four years younger than him, but I knew about him through my cousin that he used to go to a lot of his parties.

I loved his editing and always looked for his credits when buying imported freestyle/house/hip hop records (was living in England back then)... gone too soon. Cheers
